Dickerson got hot at the right time. He topped his streak with a 3 HR
game against the Rockies at Coors. His longest shot was 480 feet from
home plate.

All the starers got hits with the Giants amassing 18 runs and 22 hits
thru the 7th inning.

Giants 18 Rockies 2

Great to see, Giants have some professional hitters, which they didn't
have before Zaidi.

There are still holes in the lineup though and this kind of performance
is indicative of a feast or famine rather than game to game consistency.
For instance, they got shut out in a doubleheader by the Dodgers.

They may barely get in the playoffs and mess up their drafting position.

Sandoval needs to go. Times up and there's nothing to be gained by
being sentimental. He's just not hitting and unlike Belt and Crawford,
he hasn't improved.

Then there's the bullpen. Yesterday they were talking up Coonrod as
the closer and today, he blows the game for the Giants and Rodgers
comes in and slams to door shut on the Giants by giving up 3 runs for
a blown save. The bullpen sound pretty much the same as it did last
year.

If there's one player that typiifies a baeball player with limited
tools, it's Flores. He hits well enough, but he's got one of the worse
throwing arms I've ever seen. They've had him at 3rd, 2nd and today,
he was at 1st. I don't want to look at the replays because he commited
and error.

Even with the hitters, they are stil, as you said, a feast or famine
team. Doesn't hurt gettng fat (winning) by playing Arizona and Coors.
It makes them look good until they play a good team.

Zaidi has found some good vets but they're low salary.

Now maybe if he gets contracts off the book, he will up his budget a little.

I know if they wait for farm system, it will take probably another 3-4
years.

Maybe the Giants don't count this as a real season since they did
nothing at trade deadline. Not that they have many assets.

Maybe hope that they can move one of the big contracts when it's their
last year, like Belt probably since Crawford has no-trade clause.

A player like Flores is probably a cheap one-year patch unless he
overperforms.

Want to see what Zaidi does when he has more payroll to play with.

You're right, he did pick up some good players. Add in getting Yaz and
the team has probably done enough to get into the playoffs.

They moved up to 3rd place in the West. I feel the same way about
clearing the big contracts off the books. Even then, I'd rather get
some good players with reasonable contracts.

Lok at the Yankees. They gave out tons of cash for big name players
and as far as I can tell, none of them are in the active lineup. As
long as they keep getting positive results, I'm okay with the moves so
far.

As it was last year, the bullpen is the same game of roulette it was
last year. Gott is a real puzzle. He fell apart and hasn't recovered.
Even inserted in the last game, he gave up a HR and could finish one
inning.

Kapler should quite screwing around and name Watson the closer.
