I believe they'd have to bid against other teams for these international
players.

There is also a Japanese pitcher who's a hot commodity, maybe regarded
as highly as a pitcher as Ohtani was when he was posted to the MLB a few
years ago -- Ohtani's hitting was suppose to be a bonus.

Who knows if Giants will spend though.

That's the hard part in all this. Waiting and watching to Farhan screws the Giants again.
The media is finally catching on to the fact that Kapler and Farhan micro-managed the
team into the worst team in MLB.

Well the farm system has been failing to produce good hitters for about
a decade now.

Bart is a miss and Hunter Bishop, who was the #10 pick of the 2019 draft
and Zaidi's first pick for the Giants, is another guy who hasnt' even
made the majors.

Bailey may be the starting catcher because of defense but he's a light
hitter and so is Schmitt.

Ramos, another bust.

All hopes are on Luciano.

They need to clean house down there.

None of the Giants' catchers have hit well. The Giants hit the hype machine hard when
Bailey did well, but like all the others, he tailed off. There's too much of that thinking
that defense enough to keep a player in the majors. The biggest example of that was
Crawford. He could barely stay healthy and wasn't hitting. Yet, he was out their fielding
and that left another hole in the batting order.

Well Bart was suppose to be the next Posey, college baseball star to MLB
star in short time.

Unfortunately it hasn't worked out and there's talk about trading him.

Supposedly the Giants are planning to go hard after signing a Japanese
pitcher, about whom Zaidi said he's probably one of the best pitchers in
the world, and some South Korean hitter, who just broke his ankle recently.

Giants had tried to sign the Japanese pitcher whom the Mets signed last
season. He finished the season with a 2.97 ERA.

So supposedly more determined not to lose out, after they lost out on
this Mets pitcher and Ohtani years ago.

Thing is I remember the Ohtani hype was mainly as a pitcher, not as a
hitter. He wanted to get chances to hit and would favor teams which let
him hit. That may have helped the Angels because they could use the DH
then, while the NL suitors necessarily couldn't promise him that.

But now, he's had one elbow surgery and is looking at another while
setting all kinds of slugging records. He's had good moments as a
pitcher but hasn't shown that he could be an ace.

Yet he's going to be paid like an MVP hitter and a Cy Young pitcher.

Sounds like a dubious pick IF they pull the trigger and sign him. There are a
dozen solid picks in Japan who have never had surgery and can out hit and
out pitch any Korean pick. The best part of signing a Japanese player is the
hitting. They do it like the major league old time greats. They go after the
whole strike zone and shoot the ball all over the field.

I think they are planning on re-signing Cobb.
