Definitely nice, but to me, the one I care about is the magic number for
clinching the division. At the moment, that's 14. Expanded playoffs
has kind of blurred the significance between simple qualification for
the playoffs, winning the division, and seeding.

I get the marketing reasons for expanded playoffs and seeding, but I'm
quite content with the old form of home field advantage that is rotated.
Yes, there can be some advantage to playing at home, of not traveling,
playing in front of friendly fans and batting last, but if a team really
aspires to be best, they're going to win on the road. It's interesting
that in the 2010 - 2014 era, the Giants' clinching wins were all on the
road.

That;s what I'm watching as well. It's another step towards the WS,
with home field advantage. It used to be exciting read the daily
sports, with all the National League teams ranked together.

I hope they do it at home, but clinching it on the road if fine with
me. One of tthe bggest changes has been the consistency of winning on
the road, also against good teams. So I have a lot of confidene in the
team. Next they'll hit 100 wins, then comes the clincher.

The real pressure is on the Dodgers as they keep winning, but gain no
ground on the Giants. At this time of the season, no team comes
remotely close to the Giants with the 9 game winning streak
