Post by JohnWBart is finally hitting well and he's also handling the pitchers similarly. They've won 4 of the last six games and seem to have turned the corner. What bothers me is why they have players like Wisely in the lineup. He's literally so far under Mendoza that he's charting new territory for the lowest batting average for a current MLB player. He's just a Giants hole in the batting order and the same goes for Brandon. If his knee isn't keeping him out of the lineup, he's barely hitting for an average when he's in the lineup.
Now to the pitching. DeScalafani and Webb are the two best starters by a wide margin. Between the two of them they've toss two straight 8 inning games for wins. Cobb has done well and Wood continues to struggle with anything longer than 5 innings. The bullpen? Other than Doval, it's Bullpen roulette. I'm unclear what they planned for Manaea. Was he supposed to be a starter? Same for Stripling. They both suck badly.
Um they're in fourth place, closer to the Rockies, who have the second
worst record in the NL, than 3rd place Padres, who are only 17-15.
So another 10 games and we're 1/4 of the way through the season.
Still early but really no reason to think things will change drastically
short of some roster changes.
They got their payroll up to #11 and they did try to sign Judge and then
Correa to big contracts.
But looks like they finish out of the playoffs again and they gave Webb
a big contract.
They need injection of talent from somewhere, if not free agency then
from the farm system.
It looks pretty bleak.
