Discussion:
Well now, it does seem like the Giants have the Dodgers' number

That's an old euphemism for being able to beat a team, no matter what
the other team does. Tonight, the Giants did enough to beat the
Dodgers in SF. Posey drove in the first run and also score the second
winning run on a play you have to see to believe.

Yaz on 1st, batter hits a grounder towards 2nd. Yaz stops between 1st
and 2nd, so the fielder throwns it to Belinger at first. Posey on 2nd
heads for 3rd and Bellinger makes a throw to try and get Posey.
Bellinger must have thrown the ball 20 feet over Turner's head at 3rd,
so Buster keeps right on going to score the 2nd run (the look on
Bellinger's face was priceless).

Webb pitched a strong 6 innings and the bullpen handled it the rest of
the way. Yes, the Giants have the Dodgers' number. That's dominance
and the Dodgers are feeling the pressure.

Giants 2 Dodgers 1

The Gians have: The best record in MLB, they how lead the Dodgers by
3.0 games and they are still 5.5 games ahead of the Padres.

Watch the replay of Bellinger's throw. He was going with a throw to
2nd, stopped, amd tried to catch Posey are 3rd. It was airmail all the
way, with the screen behind 3rd being the only thing that kept it on
the field.

These close games don't give me a lot of confidence in a playoffs series
where they'd likely face Buhler and Kershaw twice.

Buhler has dominated them this season and in his career.

Cueto pitched well against the Dodgers today.

They've lost three starters and Kershaw isn't in the picture yet. As
for yesterday, it was pretty much a screw up game, but like today, the
Giants put a shutout on the Dodgers. Crawford is back in the lineup
and he was just what they needed. Getting 5.1 innings out of Cueto
without a run was primo.

My fantasy is that the Giants won't face the Dodgers in the playoffs
because the Dodgers will have been eliminated by the Padres in the one
game WC playoff. I'm envisioning interviews with all the sad Dodger
players saying essentially that they were entitled to win the WS due to
how much 'talent' they have.

That's a damn good fantsy, jon. I imagine both teams slinging cheating
accusations at each other and the Giants play for the World Series
title. What do you think of the Giants trading for Bryant?

I love the Bryant trade! It's perfect for the Giants and he's so good
that even if we wasn't a perfect fit it would still be good. Right now
I'm so excited to see him in the game tomorrow. I sort of feel like a
kid the day before XMAS knowing that I got a certain thing that I wanted
and can't wait.... :-)

They don't have him penciled in tomorrow's lineup, so he'll probably
start next week, against Arizona. :)
